2023 Fantasy Baseball: Week 8

I honestly cannot complain about this week. I mean, we were basically tied all week, but I was able to pull ahead Saturday night. My pitching was good enough to win a few categories against James the Streaming Machine. I picked up four wins from my starters, as well as two from closers, which I guess makes up for not picking up saves. I know going into this matchup that I am not going to win strikeouts, but if I can win the rate stats and stay ahead in either wins/holds/saves, then it comes down to hitting.

Fantasy Stud
I made a trade at the beginning of the week with Offord. Nolan Arenado for Pete Alonso. It paid off this week since Alonso hit three home runs, scored six times, knocked in five, while hitting .364 with a .481 OBP. OH, and he stole a base! You know what makes it even better? James is a huge Mets fan, so having Alonso help beat him just makes it even better.

The Season
I moved up one spot to fourth after that win! Ryan beat Jason, which helped me out. Offord had a big win, probably because Arenado, and saw his lead increase to 8.5 games. Dustin remains in third, but he is only a half game ahead of me. Lindsey tied him 5-5, her team is good, if she actually checked it and set a lineup, she would probably be in the top five. If anyone wants to take over a team, let me know!

Everyone remembers the band James because of their hit song “Laid”, but they have other songs. One that I always enjoyed was “Getting Away With It (All Messed Up)”, which came out a few years later.
