House of the Dragon: The Queen Who Ever Was

Jesus, what the fuck was that???
Do not get me wrong, it was a fantastic episode. Hell, it would probably be a perfect penultimate episode. But a season finale? No, it did not work for the finale. This episode was basically the entire season in a nutshell. Excellent acting, great character building, dramatic tension between the different sides…but just not much happening. Maybe next season will be just six episodes of massive battles and dragons fighting.
Okay, so there are spoilers, so skip this if you did not watch it yet…
Imagine if this episode ended with Alicent trading Aegon’s life to Rhaenyra in order to save the realm from this massive war. Then next week we get the attack on King’s Landing. Instead, we have to wait a few years. Plus there were all sorts of cliffhangers. The Triarchy is sailing against the Velaryon fleet. The Lannister army is ready to attack Daemon’s army. The Stark force is crossing the Twins. Otto Hightower is in some cage (is he in the Black Cells? Did Larys put him there???). Speaking of Larys, he has convinced Aegon II to flee for Braavos, since that is where Larys has hidden a bunch of the Harrenhal gold (the Iron Bank is holding it), and Aegon II is not safe in King’s Landing with either Rhaenyra or his brother. All of these scenes happen in the last five minutes. I was pumped for what we would see happen. The Dragonseeds are donning armor, there is going to be a fight…and there will be…next season.
Okay, enough complaining. Here a few of my other favorite bits…
-Helaena confronting Aemond. He is trying to force her to fly her dragon and fight, but she refuses. Then she tells her brother that she knows what he did to Aegon. She also tells him that he will die in this war, she has seen it.
-Daemon has his own vision. He sees the Song of Ice and Fire. He sees Rhaenyra on the throne. He sees the White Walkers. He finally understands why his brother chose her. It has to be her. He kneels before her and presents the Riverlands army. Daemon is all-in for her cause.
-Criston Cole had an excellent moment with Gwayne. Cole knows that they are all dead men because of the dragons. His speech to Gwayne shook that poor guy to his core.
-The Hightower army is marching, and we see Prince Daeron on his dragon. Plus Rhaena looks to have found her wild dragon.
Ughhhh, again, we need another episode ASAP!
