2019 Fantasy Baseball-Championship

What a great championship! Adam2 jumped out to an early lead, but Sean clawed his way back and made it somewhat interesting. Both teams did a great job streaming pitchers this week, as you can tell by the eight wins each.  Adam2 had 104 strikeouts, which is almost double his number in the finals last year.

James defeated Ryan for third place. Gideon beat Dustin for fifth. Jason took home seventh place over Pat. And I won against Lindsey for ninth! The finals standings look like this (also the draft order next year):

Adam2
Sean
James
Ryan
Gideon
Dustin
Jason
Pat
Josh
Lindsey
Offord
Matt

Congratulations Adam on the championship! And to Sean, who after week 13 looked like his team might be in trouble and then he had a huge win in week 14 and never stayed in playoff contention for the rest of the year.

Now it is time for some awards!

Best Trade: There were plenty of great trades this season, but the best probably had to be Max Muncy for Dee Gordon. Sean picked up 11 HRs, 41 Rs, 32 RBIs, and 1 SB. Gordon immediately got hurt and then when he came back, he only got me three stolen bases. The reason I wanted him was for those steals…ugh.

Best Pick Up: Pat added Pete Alonso on March 28th. I think that paid off for him. 53 home runs, 103 runs, and 120 RBIs…yeah, I think Pat was pretty smart and the rest of us were really dumb for not even drafting him.

Best Last Round Draft Pick: Jorge Polanco. Again, Pat being the genius here. Polanco broke out this season with 22 HRs and 100 runs scored.

Worst Keeper: I will not count players who missed tons of time due to injury. There are a few keepers that did not live up to their status. Jose Ramirez and Noah Syndergaard were both good, but I am sure their owners would have preferred to keep someone else the previous year OR at least get some more production from them. However, the worst was Khris Davis. Dustin kept him and it did not pay off. He only hit 23 home runs and his rate stats were bad (.220/.293).

Donut Award: There was only one Donut this year and that was me against Offord in week four. Remember, a donut is the perfect 12-0 win. Go me!

Another great season is in the books! Thank you everyone for making it fun.

  1. Fun fact. I didn’t set my line-up early enough on Tuesday and left Max Muncy on the bench. If I started him, I would have had one additional HR, which would have made the final 5-5-2. Not sure who would have won in that case. Anyway, congrats to Adam on a deserving win!
