Political Ramblings: Part 5

One of my friends decided to do an electoral map and naturally, I figured I should give it a shot.

I think PA goes to Trump. I think the middle of the state is just too entrenched for him to flip (maybe Philly and the suburbs can flip it, but I think too much of the Pittsburgh suburbs are red). It is tempting to flip Texas and Georgia blue after seeing some of those polls, but I think they are red. That being said, I do think that Trump worrying about those states is hurting him in Michigan & Wisconsin. If I remember correctly, he has basically pulled out of those states and is spending almost no money there. Also, he is still attacking the Michigan governor, even after she had a foiled kidnapping plot. I think the rhetoric around Kenosha is probably hurting him in Wisconsin.

I know my map is optimistic. I am trying to stay positive, while also worrying about all the horrible things that can happen. I keep seeing projections that say 150 million people vote in this election and I think we may actually go closer to 160 million.

I watched the final debate and it was fun seeing Trump do his best at being a normal human being. I love that the bar was set at “he did not set himself on fire on stage” and the media treated him like it was one of the greatest debate performances of all-time. Okay, maybe not true. There were a few who noticed that Trump still lied about everything and that he was still just a dick.

One thing I have noticed after these debates is that Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper look tired. I wonder if Joe Biden wins if they will just retire. Like they did their jobs and it definitely aged them constantly reporting on Trump. I know, you may think “wouldn’t they retire if Trump wins?” And no, I think they would owe it to the American people to continue reporting the truth. Okay, they probably do not retire, but they take a less journalistic role. I do love how Tapper just calls Trump out at all times.

The election is almost here. I hope everyone has already sent in their ballots. Or if you are voting in person, I hope you have a plan. Give yourself time that day since the line may be long (probably not in this area, but for those of you in a city). Hopefully we can end 2020 on a positive note.
