1st Days of Kindgergarten–Payton Edition

Payton started kindergarten on Wednseday. Crazy how time flies! Also at the same time, it seems so long ago when she was just a little baby. Payton has been excited about starting school since her preschool graduation. I was not worried about her.

The first day came and she jumped out of bed, ate breakfast, got ready, and we were all outside waiting for the bus at least twenty minutes early. It gave Lindsey plenty of time to take pictures. Lindsey and I then took Logan to his first day of preschool, after that she and I went for breakfast and then went to Lowe’s to look at a few things. We picked up Logan (he had a good first day) then came home to do some outside work while we waited for Payton.

She got off the bus and looked like the happiest kid in the world. She said she loved it and had a great day. She was fortunate to have a few of her friends from daycare and preschool in her class, so it was not as crazy of an adjustment for her as it was for other kids.

I remember my first day of kindergarten. We only went for a half day back then. I do not know if we had an orientation before or if they showed us the classroom. I remember being a bit scared because I did not know anyone. We had a playtime where we got to play at a little station and I played with a girl, Melissa K. Weird the little things we remember.

Back to Payton…

She had a great first week and we set up a good routine. Lindsey and I were both worried about having a routine because of our work schedules. But what we came up with works well and Lindsey set up alerts on Alexa so the kids know when they are to start cleaning up and then before bed time. Because of our schedules, there are also different pick up/drop offs. Some days Payton will go to the school early, but other days she will ride the bus. Sometimes she will ride the bus home, but other days one of us will pick her up at the after school program. It could get confusing very quickly, but Lindsey found a nice way to keep it organized that works for us.

Only 13 more years until graduation…Class of 2035!
