A Darth Vader Movie

A few days ago I posted a fan trailer of a Darth Vader movie. There were comments about how great it would be to have a Vader movie on the original post and at first I was excited about the prospect.

And then I started thinking about it. I think the thing fans tend to forget about a movie is that there needs to be a story. Vader just going from planet to planet hunting down Jedi would be cool to watch, but not all that interesting. Unfortunately, there cannot be a story of how deep down Vader is good because then it makes Luke’s achievement not all that impressive.

Naturally I have been thinking about this way too much. I realize there is a Darth Vader comic out there that is supposed to be excellent, which should give fans that need to know what he was doing between Episodes 3 & 4 their fix. So how could you make an interesting movie?

A new character. The Star Wars video games and the show Rebels dealt with the idea of a padawan surviving the Jedi Purge. I think there was even a character from the comic that was similar. Why wouldn’t any other Jedi Master make it out? Obi-Wan and Yoda were the only masters to survive? I am sure there would be a few others.

I think this master survived because her padawan sacrificed their own life so she could get away. The story follows her as she heads back to the Jedi Temple and discovers what has happened. Her first act will be to attack the newly appointed Emperor and quickly finds herself confronting a Sith Master along with his new apprentice, Darth Vader.

She barely escapes with her life. She recuperates and devises a new plan: to locate other Jedi and help them. Unfortunately, she is basically always either a step behind or she leads Vader to another victim. Meanwhile the entire time she keeps having encounters with Vader. So we get to see him defeating different Jedi and these two having multiple battles. In the end though, she fails and each time, it is a sadder, more depressing moment as she comes to realize the Jedi are finished.

The final part of the movie would be her discovering evidence of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s location. She is confused as to why he would be on Tatooine, but then she does some digging and discovers a name: Skywalker. She starts to put things together and she finds a way to manipulate the information so the Empire cannot find this child named Luke Skywalker. Maybe she has a Force vision about the kid. As she finishes purging the information from the Galactic Empire’s Internet Database, Vader shows up and they have one final battle. He kills her, but as she dies, she smiles realizing that Vader and the Emperor will never find Luke and that he will one day defeat them.

Tell me you wouldn’t watch that movie…
