Penn State Sports Wrap-Up (1/23-1/29)

I am going to try something new. Each week (hopefully on Sunday), I will post how the different Penn State sports teams fared this week. It is time we Penn State fans celebrate the successes (or defeats) of our university, and not just in football or wrestling. 

Basketball
Men: (1/26) lost at Indiana 74-57. (8-9, 3-6 Conference)
Women: (1/23) lost at Wisconsin 69-57, (1/25) lost to #23 Iowa 107-79, (1/27) lost to Michigan State 79-58. (9-10, 3-6)

Gymnastics
Women: (1/29) lost to Illinois. (1-2, 0-2)
Men: (1/29) beat Illinois (1-1, 0-1)
Ethan Dick was the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week
UPDATE!!!! Turns out the Men’s team actually lost to Illinois. There was a scorers error, Illinois won 397.250-396.550. That sucks!

Hockey
Men: (1/28) 2-2 SOW vs. #12 Ohio State, (1/29) lost 6-0 vs. #12 Ohio State. (14-13-1, 5-12-1-2)
Women: (1/28) won 2-1 OT vs. Mercyhurst, (1/29) won 3-1 vs. Mercyhurst. (14-8-3, 7-2-1-2)

Swimming/Diving
Women: (1/28) beat Villanova  202-91 (6-0, 0-0)
Men: (1/28) beat Villanova 215-81 (4-4, 0-2)

Tennis
Women: (1/23) won at Syracuse 5-2, (1/29) lost at #8 NC State 4-0 (2-2, 0-0)

Track & Field
This weekend was the Sykes & Sabock Challenge. I do not understand if this is a team scoring thing or not. Track people, help! Anyways, here are the folks that won their events…

I know, there should be nothing to note with football right now, but there are some commits that are worth mentioning: Anthony Donkoh (Class of 2023, 3 Star Offensive Tackle from Virginia), Cooper Cousins (Class of 2024, Not Rated Yet Offensive Tackle from Erie, PA).
