Decades Project: 1940s Music–Move It On Over

Not going to lie, finding songs from the 1940s that I enjoy was quite difficult. So to kick off our quest through the decades, we have Hank Williams and “Move It on Over.” This song was released in 1947, and I think is probably the first rock song. Or maybe this would be like proto-rock. I think music historians debate between this song and Bill Haley & His Comets “Rock Around the Clock” since they are structurally very similar (I think I learned this in 7th grade music, weird the shit that sticks with you).

I do enjoy this version, but I like the George Thorogood version better. Also, fun fact: Bill Haley & His Comets covered this song in the 1950s.
