Jammin’ With Josh: Damien Rice

I caught the ending of the movie Closer the other night. You remember that movie? Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Clive Owen, and Julia Roberts…I think it came out in like 2004. Anyways, at the end of the film the Damien Rice song “The Blower’s Daughter” plays. I had not heard that song in awhile and I forgot how good it was.

I think the first time I heard it was when we saw this movie in the theater. I believe Allison was a fan and she told me to download some of his stuff. I have not thought about Rice in years and it looks like he has not released anything in a few years. That is a shame. I think his music could have a bit more reach nowadays with his style being similar to Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers.

My favorite Rice song has always been “Woman Like a Man.”

Another great song is “Volcano”

And finally, here is Rice playing a tribute to Leonard Cohen…

I hope Damien comes out with something new in the near future.
