Logan’s First Year of T-Ball

We wrapped up Logan’s first year of t-ball. He had so much fun with it. This is my third year coaching t-ball, and each year has been totally different. The first year it was all girls, and they were timid. We had to encourage them to all run after the ball, and barely any of the girls were able to hit live pitching. Last year it was half girls, half boys and it was mostly Payton’s friends, there was more chasing the ball (some goofing off), and all the kids ended up getting hits from my pitching.

Logan’s team was different. It was all boys. There was plenty of craziness, but fortunately I had a great group of assistant coaches to help. We started pitching to the boys early on in the year, and by the end of the year each kid had a hit.

Logan had a bunch of hits, including a line drive right off my leg. He thought that was the funniest thing in the world. He hit me then made it to first laughing. The first thing he said to Adam was “did you see me hit Dad?” Then he got to third base and asked the other coach the same thing. What a goober!

I was impressed this year by Logan’s ability. Last year for most of the kids, I would pitch the ball where I thought their swing would be, and they would generally just connect with it. I decided this year to throw it straighter with a little more speed. Logan missed a bunch, but he did hit the ball a bunch. He has a nice swing. Also, he can throw. He throws better than Payton, who is two years older than him.

I look forward to next season. It should be my final year coaching t-ball.
