Life Update–Yeah, Another One

This year feels like it’s turning into a series of random life updates every month or so. I’ve been extremely busy. Most days are spent at the restaurant, and most nights are spent at a softball or baseball field. Head coaching two teams and assisting with two others has definitely been a lot at times — but honestly, I love it.

I’m sure many of you are curious about how things are going as a restaurant owner. We’ve been busy, which is a great problem to have. We held our grand opening, made the news, and then I even got to be on a local morning show to highlight some of our new items. It was insanely stressful, but everyone keeps telling me I did a good job.

The transition from General Manager to Owner has been a huge adjustment. I definitely took for granted all the things the corporate office handled behind the scenes. My to‑do list grows every single day. There are still so many little things that didn’t transfer over during the sale, and when they pop up, they’re just one more thing that needs solved. None of it is major, but it all takes time — and that means less time for the things I want to work on. Once everything is finally sorted out, things should calm down a bit.

Switching gears to baseball and softball: Logan has had a few Double‑A games so far. He’s hitting okay when the coach pitches, but he’s still chasing that first hit off a kid pitcher. He’s made some nice plays in the field, and even though he’s the youngest and smallest on the team, his coach puts him in the infield a lot. He even got to pitch during a scrimmage and might get some innings this season. He’s only had one Single‑A game so far, but he played really well.

Payton is having a great season at both levels. She’s still looking for her first hit off a kid pitcher too, but she’s racking up walks and steals. She crushed two doubles off me in one of our games — legit hard hits into the outfield. Our 8U team has been strong so far; we’re in first place and the girls are all hitting well. Payton has played great, making solid plays in the field and getting plenty of good hits.

 So that’s the latest from our little corner of chaos. Between the restaurant, the kids, and the never‑ending to‑do list, I’m basically living on ballfield dirt and coffee. But honestly, I wouldn’t trade it.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE:  I wrote this post a week ago, but I am having problems with my site. Ugh. Who knows what will happen. For now, I think I can post without pictures (I guess we are running out of space, who knew that was a thing).
