A Fearful Symmetry

I took a break from this series, and honestly, I wish I had stayed on a break. The 8th book was long and boring. 90% was probably the logistics of going to war with a foreign country. It was all just so boring. The only good part was the discovery of another American, but this one is in the hands of Narthon.

Also, the inner workings of the Narthon Empire was cool. Learning about the different military leaders, and how there are factions that are for the ruling family, or secretly against (as well as conquered people who have risen the ranks, but still harbor a hatred for Narthon). Plus we dive into the Accessors a bit more and the power they hold within the empire. Kind of cool.

Unfortunately, that stuff was a small part of the book. The rest was Yozef figuring out how much ammunition to take on campaign. Granted, the battle was done well one we finally got to it, but dammmmmnnnnnn it took forever.

Naturally there were a few things kept me hooked to this series. First: the AI has become fully aware and is showing curiosity about the Americans. Second: the book ends with Yozef receiving a letter from Assessor Hizair (not sure on spelling). The letter is in English, and accompanying the letter are the Americans the Assessor had in his possession (at least I think that is them). I am so curious to see where this goes.
