Star Wars: The High Republic–Temptation of the Force

Star Wars says you can read just the adult High Republic books, and that the story will make sense without having read the YA novels. And I agree for the most part, but I would highly recommend reading Defy the Storm before reading Temptation of the Force. It will provide some background on a few characters that pop up in this book.
The majority of this book focuses on Elzar Mann and Avar Kriss, and their relationship. We also follow Burryaga, Bell Zettifar, Vernistra, and Porter Engle on their adventures. The Jedi are beginning the fight back against the Nihil with Avar and Elzar leading the way.
There will be spoilers…
-This was the first time the Jedi are able to fight back against the Nameless. Burryaga opens himself to the Force, and uses his empathy to absorb the fear (I think that is probably an oversimplification). Elzar stabs one, and Cair San Tekka shoots another one.
-The Blight is a major threat. I love how the book ends with Marchion Ro showing up to Coruscant to warn the Chancellor about the Blight, and that they need his help to stop it. How will Ro use this opportunity to spread more destruction upon the Republic?
-Elzar and Avar finally stop beating around the bush (PHRASING!) and acknowledge their love for each other. Avar points out that love does not have to mean attachment. Master Elzar even discusses the idea with Yoda, who thinks Elzar is a bit of an idiot over this stuff. Of course love and the Force go together.
-Vernestra tries to fight Marchion Ro, but he has a Nameless with him, and she cannot get to him. I loved how he was not afraid of her. I knew she was not going to die, since we know she is alive during The Acolyte.
-Porter goes after General Viess, and they have another great battle. It felt like he was close to falling to his emotions, particularly to rage, but his love for his sister (who Viess says is alive) pulls him back from that anger.
If you read the book, what did you think of it?
