How Did I Do?–2022 Basketball & Hockey Predictions

This year I decided to try basketball and hockey predictions. I wonder how those turned out?

In the NBA, I picked five of the possible place winners correctly. In the East I picked the Bucks & Nets, while in the West I nailed the Nuggets, Timberwolves, and Pelicans. It is difficult to pick by conference since some of the teams ended up with close records, and if they were in different divisions it might be easier to get them. So 5 out of 30 is not too awful (16.67%).

I am proud of the fact that I predicted Joel Embiid as the MVP, and Paolo Banchero as the ROY. Granted, I basically just looked at betting markets, and went with best options.

The NHL should be easier with the divisions right? Well I guess not. I picked five teams correctly (two in the Atlantic and three in the Central Divisions). That is good for 15.63%, yikes. At least I picked 11 of the 16 playoff teams (68.75%). I predicted Connor McDavid would win the Hart Trophy, but I missed the other awards.

I did not come close to predicting the champions in either league. Maybe next year I will do better.
