Should Penn State Fans Be Worried?

I keep seeing Penn State players saying they are entering their name into the transfer portal. For those that do not know, the NCAA made the graduate transfer process easier, I guess they can enter themselves onto the portal and coaches can see who is out there and try to entice them to their school.

So far there have been ten players, most notably Juwan Johnson. Some fans seem to be freaking out, whereas others are saying this is fairly normal and not at all unusual. Graduate transfers have been pretty normal, especially the last few years (Russell Wilson was the first one I remember pushing the graduate transfer). However, this year is different. And should ten players leaving be cause for concern?

Well, for the most part, I would say no. Johnson and Brandon Polk are probably decent losses, but the rest are just meh. It is not like the others are transferring to better schools. They all seem to be going to smaller (or not at as good) programs, where they will probably get a chance to start. Also, I remember one of the players leaving because of a family issue and wanting to be closer to home (maybe Jarvis Miller?).

I looked at other schools, particularly the top ones, and I did not see any with that many potential exits. Hopefully this is a one off year. I wonder if the wide receivers leaving has something to do with the transitions in WR coaches since they arrived?

However, if the transfers continue next season, then it might be time to take a deep look into why.
