Top Five: Guy Ritchie Scenes

I am a fan of Guy Ritchie movies. I enjoy his style. Snatch is one of my all-time favorite movies. I think all of his movies have a cool scene that is very “Guy Ritchie.” Here is my top five scenes that are my favorite scenes of his. This is not the order of my favorite Guy Ritchie movies, but instead the scenes that stand out to me. Make sense? Also, these are probably NSFW.

5. The Gentleman

I love that Guy Ritchie does plenty of scenes of characters just sitting and talking, usually with the undertone of extreme violence about to erupt. This one is fantastic, with the way Matthew McCononaughey goes from calm to psychopath in like two seconds.

4. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

There is about to be a bloodbath. Guy Ritchie does such a great job of building us up to it. Also, this scene highlights another thing I love about his movies: the crazy way that a bunch of random criminals usually come together through a bunch of coincidences. Think about the opening to Snatch when Turkish says “what do I know about diamonds?” and the next thing you know, we get caught up on the story and find out how Turkish ends up with the diamond.

3. Sherlock Holmes

Guy Ritchie was perfect to direct a Sherlock Holmes movie. This fight scene shows the way Sherlock sees the world and how he calculates a fight. It is perfect how it is in slow motion as he describes what will happen, then normal speed when the fight actually goes down. I love it. I wish Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr. would make a third one.

2. Aladdin

When I first saw this movie, I did not know Guy Ritchie directed it. During the street rat scene though, I knew it was him and had to look it up to be sure. However, this scene makes me go “oh yeah, this feels like Guy Ritchie.” The slow motion falling, then it speeds up as he hits the water.

1. Snatch

The things I mentioned from those other four scenes? Basically all of it happens in this scene. Slow build up to extreme violence? Check. Insane convergence of events? Check. Slow motion falling into water? Check. Brutal fight scene? Check. I could have probably used any scene from Snatch or just the whole movie since everything about it is perfect.
