2023 Fantasy Baseball Midyear

As I mentioned in my last fantasy baseball post, this week is extra long because of the All-Star Break. So this is a good time to look at my team and figure out what is wrong with my team? The best way to do that? I like to look at my team stats and figure out if I have been unlucky or just bad at times.

Okay, I broke those pics up poorly. The final total in the first picture should be with the stolen bases. In case you are wondering, the first place team gets 12 points, second gets 11, etc. My team from a hitting standpoint is right around the middle. Notice how some of the totals are higher up, but the records are bad. That feels like some bad luck. Like hitting a bunch of home runs and losing. Or I rack up tons of home runs one week, and then nothing another week. One thing that is clear, Offord’s team is amazing.

My pitching is also middle of the road, but I think it needs some work. My score has been carried by the rate stats (the win-loss record, not the totals). I need to trade some of that in for wins. It may be time to stream pitchers (although, it looks like a few people have decided to do that as well).

If you look at my combined totals, I am basically right where my record shows. Actually with this method I am a seventh place team. So yeah, I need to make some changes. You know who doesn’t need to make a change? Offord. His team is practically perfect.

I also enjoy looking at my team log to see how players have done for me. My god, my catchers have been awful. Also, I really got the short end of the stick on that Pete Alonso trade. He has hit .179 since our trade.

I think what is most evident is that I hang onto guys way too long. I have only made 15 moves this season, compared to 112 for Offord or 108 for Ryan. But no one tops the king: James sitting at 257 moves. Yeah, maybe I should change things up.
