Jessica Jones Season Two

I finally finished the second season of Jessica Jone on Netflix the other day. Like the last few Marvel Netflix series, this one once again runs about three episodes too long. The overall story was pretty cool: the company that was responsible for creating her, had experimented on others as well. The mystery of IGH and getting to the bottom of who & why was pretty interesting. Unfortunately, I could have done without the Jeri story, or the Trish using the enhancer drug, or Malcolm…doing whatever he was doing.

Also, where did this fit into the timeline of the Netflix shows? Was this before Defenders or after? If it was after, how come there is like zero reference to those events?

I did enjoy the whole mom thing. It came out of left field and was pretty cool, but then they drug it out for a few episodes too long. Trish killing her was probably the best idea the show had all season. It creates that rift between them (which was only widened by the fact that Trish wants and now has some sort of powers). I did not like that the big reveal was some lone scientist doing these experiments. I wish it would have been a major company and that they could have explored the ethical implications of these treatments and how they could cure some major medical issues, but sometimes there might be “side-effects.”

I wish they would have explored Jessica’s mental state after taking Killgrave’s life more than just one episode. I think it would have been great to have David Tennant back for more than an episode and maybe show what it would look like if someone like Jessica went completely off the rails. Will there be any consequences for her murdering that prison guard? I also wish there were more integration with the other Netflix shows. I think bringing Danny into a few episodes would have been cool (also would have made him more likeable). I think he and Jessica could be fun together.

Anyways, I am starting the second season of Luke Cage now…
