The Rookie–The TV Show

I did not write a fall television preview this year. Mostly because I barely have enough time to watch the shows I already watch, and honestly, adding new stuff is just foolish.

However, I do not always do the smart thing. I decided to start watching a few new shows. I am watching A Million Little Things

The other show is The Rookie. ABC totally bungled how they marketed it. They made it seem like a comedy. Nathan Fillion stars as a contractor from Pennsylvania, who after his divorce has a moment where he realizes what he wants to do with his life. He moves to LA and becomes a cop. I figured the show would be pretty funny (and come on, I always enjoy a show with Malcolm Reynolds).

There are definitely old man jokes in the show, but the majority of the show is about the difficulty of being a cop. It follows the three rookie officers and how they are being trained. I am not usually a big fan of your standard cop shows, but I am definitely enjoying this one. It might be the use of body-cam footage to make you feel like you are with them, or maybe it is the cast, which pretty dynamic.

I highly recommend it.
