If we learned anything last year it is that making plans for the future is probably not the best idea. Obviously the pandemic changed basically everything about the year. In that spirit, I guess I will do a different kind of preview for this year.
Kids
Payton will turn four in a few days. No big party this year, just some family coming over to celebrate. Logan will turn two in March and maybe by then a bigger birthday party could happen, but who knows.
When the weather becomes nice, I want to take Payton to the driving range and maybe take her out golfing with me sometime. Eventually getting to the point where we could do a foursome with Adam2 and Em. I wonder if the YMCA will have swim lessons sometime soon, I think we should definitely get Payton back into it (I feel like she was so close to swimming last year, but then the classes were canceled and she never was in a pool again). I think Payton can play t-ball this year, which is exciting.
Maybe Logan could try soccer or something else. Obviously it is not meant to be some sports commitment, but instead just something for the kids to do. Payton had fun with soccer and I feel like Logan enjoys running around, so maybe he will like it.
Entertainment
Basically all the movies that did not come out in 2020 should come out this year. I look forward to going back to a movie theater. It is nice watching movies from home, but I still prefer being in the theater.
Also should be a great year for television shows, between all the Star Wars/Marvel shows, and everything on HBO, I should stay busy. Some of the other shows I watch will also be back this year.
I think Andy Weir has a new book coming out this year. There is always the dream that Patrick Rothfuss and GRRM will release their newest books this year (I keep seeing both of them listed as coming out this year, but I will believe it when I see it).
Travel
I do not know what kind of travel we will do this year. We will be hitting up Florida in May for my brother’s wedding. We are trying to plan a trip to Disney World around that time. Also a chance we head to Myrtle Beach. There is also a chance we have my work trip to Florida this year.
I hope we do some more hiking and little trips around the area. I liked going to Ohiopyle this year and maybe Lindsey will find some more things like that for us to try.
House Stuff
We have an actual remodeling project coming up in the next few weeks. Like with a real contractor and not just me messing stuff up. As far as stuff I can do, well I want to finish the flooring stuff I mentioned.
I want to just go room by room and complete the little things that need finished. For example, in our bedroom the heater covers and the TV (it is not hooked up because I want to hide the cords and…well I just never got around to it). In the living room, I want to fix the fireplace base. We shall see.
Sports
2020 was the first year since probably 2003 or 2004 that I did not make it to a Pirates game. I will definitely rectify that fact this year. It has also been a few years since we went to a football game. Another thing that will be fixed (hey Adam2, November 13th…).
Obviously I want to play more golf this year. I would also like to play tennis with Lindsey again. Hopefully we can get the ping-pong table from her dad’s house, so I can destroy her at that as well.
So there are a few of the things to look forward to this year.
