The Random Post of Random Things About the Randomness of Life

I have not written much lately. There has been too much going on in life, plus I just have not really felt like writing. I guess I just needed a break for a bit. So what has been happening? Well…

The basement flooded again. It sucked. We had someone come in and repair the walls, they finished up on a Monday and I was prepping the basement to paint, then put down the floor again. And then it started raining. Not really sure what happened, but then water started coming up from the sump pump pit. I tried to mess with it, but nothing. I called every 24-hour plumber in the area and all of them said “yeah, we can come out, first thing in the morning.” Why the fuck do they say 24-hour if they cannot come out until the morning??? Annoying. Anyways, the next day I got someone to come out and he was able to get the water out and we are going to work on making sure this does not happen again (we thought it would stop happening before, but…yeah, we are working on that situation as well).

On top of that nightmare, we have been busy with kid stuff. We had Payton’s kindergarten registration, Logan’s soccer, dance, birthday parties, Easter, swim lessons, and Payton’s t-ball will be starting soon (supposed to start this week, but the weather did not cooperate). We decided to put the kids in the same swim class. They were in different classes back at the beginning of 2020 as the pandemic started. Logan was doing the baby one, where the parents are in the water holding them. And we had Payton in the beginner class where she is in the water by herself. They only had two classes before the world fell apart. So this time they are both in the beginner class. Payton did very well. Although, she has this thing where she tries to kick upright instead of letting her body be parallel to the surface, but she is not afraid and listens fairly well. Logan…well he may be a bit young for this class. He was scared to sit at the edge of the pool, but he did go in the water with the instructor. So that is progress.

I have been watching the MCU movies in timeline order. I watched Age of Ultron the other night and seeing the number of cleavage shots reminded me of a gripe I had with the movie when I first saw it. After hearing the allegations against Joss Whedon, it is even weirder seeing certain shots. Like the scene where Bruce dives over the bar and lands on top of Nat and his face is right in her chest. It just feels more pervy now.

Another weird MCU thing. Guardians of the Galaxy takes place in 2014 and for some reason Disney says that Vol. 2 takes place immediately after. However, I feel that when we see the end-credits in that movie, Groot is a teenager, which is where he is at during Infinity War. I guess I would put GotG2 between Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok. Oh well, not a big deal.

Lindsey and I watched a few good shows lately. We enjoyed The Dropout, which I think most people loved as well. We also watched Little Fires Everywhere. I thought that one was tremendous. I think the majority of the praise went to Kerry Washington (definitely deserved), but I thought Reese Witherspoon was equally fantastic.

We decided to cut the cord again. I plan to get one of the streaming services like Fubo or YouTubeTV, which will still leave us significantly cheaper than what we were paying for cable. But, for a few months we will just roll with Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Paramount, ESPN+, and I think that is it. Unfortunately, this means I have not watched a Pirates game yet this year (okay, I watched part of the game on Easter). Honestly, not really too sad about it. They are terrible and the owner is awful, so maybe if everyone ignores them then it will force Nutting to sell the team.

The house was fairly trashed from the wall repairs in the basement. Lindsey and I have spent the majority of our vacation deep cleaning the entire house. We are almost completely finished. We just have a few things left to do tomorrow. Unfortunately that puts us behind where we want to be with outside cleanup. I guess the weather being so shitty has helped in that department.

Need a podcast recommendation? Try Dead & Gone. I just listened to season one and the first few episodes of season two. Very good. It is about the Grateful Dead and the murders connected to that culture. The first season focused on a double murder, this season seems to be about a different case, plus maybe some other cases. It just has a perfect blend of information about the band and true crime.

Alright, I think that is a sufficient enough life update.
