A Tough Night

My wife took this picture of Payton and I sleeping last night. It looks totally adorable, but it was the conclusion of a rough night. I will keep this story short. Logan and Payton were very difficult. I only had one or two meltdowns.

I had to be up at 4:45, so I went to bed around 11:30 (had to watch the rest of the Ohio State game). I was drifting off into dreamland when I heard screams. I looked at the baby monitor and Logan was asleep. I realized it was Payton. She rarely wakes up. So I knew I better check on her.

I went in and her room was cold. She was crying and said she had a bad dream. I asked her if she wanted to sleep in daddy’s bed. She said yes. I carried her and put her in our bed, hoping that she would just fall back asleep.

It did not work. For the next hour or so, she kept saying “daddy, daddy, daddy.” When I would say what, she would respond “are you happy?” That is her new thing, when I am upset with her, she has this very sad look and asks if I am happy. She also kept saying “I love you daddy.” Hard to be mad at her for keeping me up.

Eventually we fell asleep and my loving wife came home at almost 2:00 a.m. She always flips on the light in our room and it always wakes me up. Guess what? It happened again, but not before she took that picture. Payton also woke up and started doing her thing. Not much sleep for the Croyle family. Once Payton fell back asleep, Lindsey took her back to her room.

I hope tonight is smoother. Also, how cute is it that we both sleep with one arm up.
