The Last of Us–Episode 207

I did not realize this was the season finale until after it ended. I have to say, that was one of heck of a cliffhanger. I hope they started filming season three as soon as two wrapped because I do not want to wait two years to find out what happens.
It was a fantastic episode with a few great moments. I loved Ellie’s quest to the aquarium. I was actually scared that she was going to listen to Mel and cut the baby out. It was heart-breaking when you see that she is pregnant. There was also the Seraphite’s capturing her, and then leaving her to die when the WLF begins their attack.
What I loved most about the episode was Jesse telling Ellie that he did not vote for her revenge tour because it was not what was best for the community, but then when she asks later why he came to save her, he says that he knows that she would go through hell to rescue him if he needed rescued. They hear a noise, and go out to see what is happening, but Jesse takes a bullet to the face. Abby is there and has Tommy. She realizes who Ellie is and is pissed that she showed mercy, and this was how it was repaid.
The scene ends, and then we see Abby reading a book (interesting choice by the way, since City of Thieves was the inspiration for The Last of Us game…also, the book was written by David Benioff, who was the show runner for GOT, which has a few actors in common with this show). We are going back in time to Day 1 in Seattle. Apparently the next season will follow Abby’s story, what she has been doing for these three days. Isaac could not find her before the big attack, and he says that he sees her as the future leader of the WLF.
My guess is that we will learn that she has a crazy adventure, then comes back to find her friends dead. We are going to like her, and then there will be the ultimate showdown: Abby vs. Ellie. My guess is that when it plays out, it will be difficult for us no matter who wins.
