Fan Points!

I do not usually steal posts from Sean (okay, maybe a few times), but this one was too good not to share. Since I know most of you cannot click a link, I will use Sean’s words to describe the premise:

the premise is that you have 100 points or 100% to assign to your favorite sports teams/players. Basically, this is a way to show your fandom and what you really care about as a fan. For example, let’s say that you are a Dallas Cowboys fan. First, my apologies. You only care about the NFL, so in this case, maybe you assign 95 or even all of your fan points to the Cowboys. Maybe you give 5 points to whoever is playing against the Philadelphia Eagles or another team that will help the Cowboys. It seems rare that a person is only a fan of one team, but this is just an example.

So how would my fandom work out? I have my core teams, but then I have weird teams I root for…also, unlike Sean, I will try to be more specific in my college fandoms.

I know, those colors are hard to see. Sorry.

Penn State Football: 30%
I spend most of the year following PSU football stuff. If you asked me to do this from 2000-2018, the Pittsburgh Pirates are the top team, and it is probably like 50%.

Pittsburgh Steelers: 22%
Always been a Steelers fan, and I try to watch every game (sometimes work gets in the way). The NFL is 17 weeks, but the season never ends.

PGA Golf: 13%
At first, I put this lower, but then I realized I watched way more golf this year than Pirates games. Some of that has to do with my streaming stuff. I do not get Pirates games, or MLB Network. So baseball is harder to watch at times. Golf though? Yeah, I can watch golf most weekends, plus Golf Channel is great to put on during the day for good background television.

Pittsburgh Pirates: 12%
Okay, so I may not get to watch the games now, but I do follow the team. I read about them, and follow the scores. I have issues with the Pirates, and my anger at baseball in general, so that is probably why the percentage is at an almost low (it was at it’s lowest after the 1994 strike, I stopped watching baseball back then).

PSU Wrestling: 10%
My brother helped me rekindle my love for wrestling, and during Penn State’s dynasty, I find myself looking forward to, and reading more about the upcoming season each year.

Pittsburgh Penguins: 5%
Not being able to watch many of the games has caused hockey to slip from my mind. I watch when I can, but it is not a must see thing for me anymore.

PSU Basketball: 4%
If I see a game on TV, I will watch it. I was a little excited about the new men’s coach and some of the players he brought in.

PSU Hockey: 2%
I like to watch the games when I can, but I rarely pay attention to things happening with the teams. Like I do not know a single player’s name.

Sun Belt Football: 1%
I have a weird thing for Sun Belt football. Particularly Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina. I mean, I will watch any of the teams when they play during the week, but for some reason I follow App State and Coastal. I want to go to a game at Boone someday.

PSU Other Sports: .5%
I follow all the Penn State sports on Twitter (I refuse to call it anything else), and I get excited when I see the women’s lacrosse team win a big game. I tried last year to do a weekly PSU sports recap. It was just too much.

Philadelphia 76ers: .25%
I used to be a huge NBA fan. When Iverson played for the Sixers, they were my favorite team. I probably still like them, and will check the scores and standings to see how they are doing.

Tennis: .25%
I rarely talk about tennis on here, but I casually follow tennis. I used to be a much bigger fan, but I basically only pay attention to the majors now.
