2023 Fantasy Baseball Season Wrap Up

As I said in the fantasy baseball championship post, Ryan won his sixth title. It had been an eight-year drought for him with just one second place finish in that time. During that time he won the regular season three times, but could not secure a championship. Ready for another fun fact? During that time, he missed the playoffs one year (2018). Are you ready to be blown away…since 2006, that was his worst season. He finished in 8th place during the regular season, and 7th in the playoffs. He has never been worse than 6th place in any other season. That is domination.

Some of you remember this each year, but others forget. I keep track of how we do each year. I also assign points for places. 1st place is 5, 2nd-4, 3rd-3, 4th-2, 5th-1. Anything worse than 5th is nothing. Try not to be a loser. I do this for the regular season and playoffs. Then I add those points up and that is who leads our fantasy baseball universe.

  1. Ryan-110 points
  2. Josh-80
  3. Gideon-73
  4. Offord-64
  5. Sean-42
  6. Jason-39
  7. James-33
  8. Adam2-26
  9. Dustin-15
  10. Lindsey-10
  11. Matt-6
  12. Pat-4
  13. Jordan-4
  14. Lasher-1

Obviously some people have quit the league, or taken time off. And I think over time, it would be nice to replace a few of those people who do not try at all, but we do need them to fill out the league, so thanks! So yeah, we are always looking to add new people. If you have any friends, or if you are reading this and want to join, just let me know.

Anyways, I think we should probably call this leaderboard the Killarney Cup.I used to make Ryan more Irish, and call him Ryan Killarney, so until someone knocks him off the top, it will be known as the Killarney Cup.

Onto some awards!

Best Trade: Offord traded Pete Alonso to me for Mookie Betts. At that time, Betts had 10 HRs, 1 SB, 32 R, 28 RBI, .247 AVG, and a .355 OBP. Alonso: 32 R, 17 HR, 41 RBI, 0 SB, .227, .323.
After? Alonso: 54 R, 28 HR, 74 RBI, 4 SB, .207, .313…Betts: 92 R, 29 HR, 75 RBI, 12 SB, .326, .426.
Yeah, I think Offord won that trade.

Best Keeper: Ronald Acuña Jr. by Offord. It is not even close honestly. Acuña had a 40/70 season. That is just crazy.

Best Draft Pick: Corbin Carroll. Dustin drafted Carroll in the 8th round. How did the rookie do? He was the 9th best player in fantasy baseball this year. 25 HR and 54 SB with a .285 AVG.

Worst Keeper: Jeff McNeil. James loves keeping this guy. I do not understand why!!!! He is a good ballplayer, but not a great fantasy keeper. Think about it. You want to keep someone that will end up in the top 36. McNeil finished 323. You cannot keep that kind of garbage.

Best Waiver Wire Add: Justin Steele. Offord picked this guy up on April 8th. He probably figured to ride his hot start a few weeks then drop him. Steele earned 16 wins for Offord.

No wonder Offord had a historic regular season, he seems to have done the work as a fantasy manager. Alas, his guys did not step up in the playoffs.

I look forward to next season. We need to start considering our keepers, and all of that other fun stuff.
