Marco Island Trip

A little geography lesson for everyone. Land surrounded on all sides by water is called…an island. Very good. Lindsey definitely asked if Marco Island was an island. She then tried to cover herself with “yeah, but sometimes places have island in the name and are not actually islands.” I asked her to name one, but she could not.

Oh, what the hell am I even talking about? Sorry, I forgot to mention that we recently went to Marco Island for a work trip. This was a bit like the Nashville trip from a few years ago. We stayed at the JW Marriott, which was very nice and definitely out of our normal price range. The bad thing about staying at a fancy place like that is the drinks by the pool were very expensive. C’est la vie…

It was tough being away from the kids. But at the same time, it was nice to get away and be able to enjoy some adult beverages (we consumed a few) and not have to worry about anything.

In case you were wondering, Marco Island is in Florida. It is on the Gulf coast, just south of Fort Myers and Naples. We flew into Punta Gorda, which is a tiny airport like an hour and a half north.

We got to spend a little bit of time at the beach, although the first day the weather was a little crappy. It was raining in the morning and we went down and by the time the sun came out and it became a nice day, it was going to be time to get ready for dinner. Luckily our group was all there and decided to just go eat later. The next day, the sun was out, but it was so windy at the beach that it actually felt cold. We ended up heading to the pool and just finding a place out of the wind. It was a huge difference.

It was a nice little getaway, but I was definitely happy to be back to Payton, Logan, and Samson.
