Top 50: Favorite TV Shows (10-1)

The moment you have all been waiting for: my top ten favorite television shows! I bet Young and the Restless ends up #1.

10. Parks and Recreation
I love this show. All of the characters are fantastic. The way they all grow and change over the course of the show is great. I love the juxtaposition between Leslie and Ron (liberal vs. libertarian), and yet they can get along and be friends. Probably a lesson to take from the show nowadays.

9. Firefly
Okay, this one is sort of a cheat. It was cancelled after one season. And yet, that one season is some of the best television of all-time. I have probably watched each episode at least a dozen times. Malcolm Reynolds is one of my favorite characters from any medium.

8. Boardwalk Empire
I have always wondered if this show had a major pivot because of an actor on the show or if it was always intended to be a show about Nucky Thompson. It started out as the rise of Jimmy and it definitely followed him closely, but then the show switched to Nucky more and that is when it truly became great.

7. Breaking Bad
I know most people would have this show higher and I will say that is probably one of the best shows ever made. The story of Walter White is complex, sad, exhilarating, and fun. Do you know how well written a character has to be in order to have the audience rooting for a meth dealer.

6. Justified
One of the best shows for villains. Every season the big bad was always menacing, but also nuanced. I think Mags Bennett was one of the best villains ever. But the story is about Raylan Givens and he was one of the coolest, baddest lawmen to ever grace the screen.

5. Modern Family
I think we all know how much I love this show. No show has made me laugh and cry as much as this one. If I see an episode on some random channel (I think E! has them now, sometimes it is USA, I don’t know), I always watch it.

4. Lost
I know I am in the vast minority, but I still love the entire series. I watched it a second time through a few years ago and it actually was better. I still think the finale is fitting. Whatever jerks, it was a great show. I think people missed the idea that the characters were lost as people, and the journey to them finding themselves was what the show was about, not just being lost on a magical island. Oh well, I got it and that is all that matters.

3. Mad Men
Don Draper is one of the truly great television characters. But what makes the show great are all of the other characters. Peggy, Roger, Pete, Joan, and all the rest of the people at SCDP are interesting and complex. There is never a side story where you feel it is unnecessary.

2. Game of Thrones
I feel like I have written about this show more than any other show. Hell, I am one of the few people who enjoyed the final season. So many incredible moments over the years, it would be impossible to list them all.

1. Seinfeld
Was there any doubt? I have watched every episode at least 100003932309234098234 times. I probably watch at least one episode every week. Can you imagine watching any show that much?
