Good Weekend

This was a busy, but fantastic weekend. And yes, I am going to give you a recap of the whole thing. I know you are excited.

It started when I got home from work on Friday. We were having Logan’s party on Saturday, so I needed to start smoking a pork butt. Once I had it on the smoker, I decided to watch the Justice League Snyder Cut. I started the movie at 10:00, so it was over at 2:00. I stayed up a little later to make sure the hopper was full and nothing bad would happen while I was in bed. I woke up at like 5:30 and went out to check and the smoker was still going fine. We woke up a few hours later and I took Payton to dance class.

After that she and I went to get balloons filled for the party. The rest of the day was spent setting up for the party. As always, Lindsey did a top notch job. The theme was Baby Shark and she had tons of decorations and a crap load of balloons (Logan loves balloons). She felt bad that last year his party was canceled because of the beginning of the pandemic. Granted, he will not remember any of this, but he definitely enjoyed seeing all of the Baby Shark stuff.

The party was a great time. Logan was shy for a bit and he still takes too long to open gifts, but he got tons of great gifts. Once the party was over, we cleaned up the food, but we were exhausted and knew we had to get up early. Payton was so excited because we were going to the zoo and she basically sets an internal clock to wake up.

I was correct, the alarm went off at 6:45 and like two seconds later Payton was standing beside me saying “is it time to go to the zoo?” I made breakfast while Lindsey got herself and the kids ready. We actually were out the door on time and we got to the Pittsburgh Zoo around 10:30. The place was already packed. Fortunately we have a membership, so we got to zoom right past everyone. We hit up the Meet the Easter Bunny thing and then went to see the animals. It was funny, Logan actually walked the majority of the time. It was actually a little annoying because he is not the fastest walker in the world, haha.

One of the great things was that the zoo finally had some new lions. Payton was excited to see them. They were actually moving around a bit and when Logan saw them, he let out a loud roar. It cracked up all the people standing there. He can be very silly.

A few other stops after the zoo, then it was time to come home. Give the kids a bath, put them to bed, fold some laundry, carry some tables and chairs to the basement…and the next thing I know it is 10:30 p.m. I decided to write a little bit and then go to sleep.
