The Hall of Fame Decision

Usually this time of year is when I write about the Baseball Hall of Fame inductees. This year though, no one received the 75% needed for induction. It is not the end of the world or anything, but the debate continues about the PED players, as well as the question of what it means to be a hall of famer.

Oh and there is the whole Curt Schilling debate. Ugh, I said before that he should be in the HOF and honestly, I stand by it. Yeah, I get that he is a horrible person and that he has expressed his support for the insurrection of January 6th. Good job, Curt!

Bonds and Clemens cracks me up. Barry got 61.8% and Roger received 61.6%. There was one voter (I am guessing one) who does not care about the PED issue, but just looks at Clemens body of work and says “meh, not that impressive.”

Next year there will be a few players added to the ballot: David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, and then a bunch of players who do not have a chance. If I were voting, I would vote this way…
Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Alex Rodriguez
David Ortiz

I just think those four are HOF players and should definitely be in. Depending on my mood, I may also vote for Gary Sheffield, Manny Ramirez, Torii Hunter, and Bobby Abreu. And I could probably convince myself to put Andruw Jones and Scott Rolen on there.

  1. I feel like Ortiz is going to make it, regardless of his failed steroids test. Then, I’ll vomit listening to baseball writers twist themselves in knots trying to explain why confirmed steroids user Ortiz deserves to be enshrined over two vastly superior, suspected users. I hate the Hall of Fame.

    1. Yeah it truly is a joke at this point. Harold Baines is a HOF’r but Bonds is not. If they are invoking the character clause against Schilling, then why is Ty Cobb still in? And probably a hundred other awful humans from that era…
