Decades Project: 1990s Music–Grunge

I remember the first time I saw the video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” It was so different from the rock bands that were big at the end of the 80s and early 90s like Bon Jovi and Poison. I realize that the beginning of grunge happened before this song. 

I am not going to pretend that this music changed my life, but it did introduce me to different music. This was the moment when I stopped listening to whatever my dad liked and developed my own taste. These early songs were what helped develop my core musical love. Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Candlebox are what led me to Stone Temple Pilots, Live, and Our Lady Peace.
