Friday Five–Favorite Movies of 2000

Wait, the year 2000 was 25 years ago! Holy crap, that is crazy. Back when I wrote my top fifteen movies of 1999, there were a bunch of movies that came out in 2000, that I thought were from ’99. Movies like The Patriot, American Psycho, Pitch Black, and O Brother, Where Art Thou? came out in 2000, and are movies that I love, and yet they did not make my top five. Side note…Mel Gibson had a solid year with The Patriot, Million Dollar Hotel, and What Women Want. Anyways here are my top from that year. 

5. Finding Forrester–was this Sean Connery’s last great role? Was it Busta Rhymes best? 
4. The Beach–I know people hate this movie, but I absolutely love it. I always enjoyed the videogame-style scene of him alone in the jungle.
3. Gladiator–this movie holds up so well. Still one of my favorites.
2. Snatch–“D’ya like dags?”
1. Remember the Titans–I ignored this movie when it came out, figured it was a stupid Disney sports movie. Then I watched it a few years later, and I loved it. This movie has went into my all-time top ten. I watch it at least once per year. I have two favorite scenes…the first is during training camp, when Gerry calls out Ray, then he and Julius play together and he yells LEFT SIDE! Then at the end, when Julius goes to the hospital to see Gerry and the nurse says it is family only. Gerry asks if she cannot see the resemblance, that Julius is his brother. Makes me cry every-damn-time.
