Star Wars: The High Republic–Trials of the Jedi

The High Republic era comes to an end, or at least the overall storyline that has been going since it began (the Republic & the Jedi vs. the Nihil). I am guessing they will continue to write stories during this time period, but the battle with the Nihil has come to a conclusion. It was okay, I mean, I figured things would end this way, since we never hear about the Nihil during the prequels (you would think if they had some major impact on things, the Jedi would still be talking about them).
Okay, there will be spoilers from here, so if you are still reading these books, I would skip this next part.
-I was discussing this with a friend, and we both complained about how the Jedi can never just use the Force to stop an opponent, or take an item. Like, Marchion Ro shows up on the origin planet of the Nameless with the Rod, there are 9 powerful Jedi, a few of them could not use the Force to pull the Rod out of his hand? Or just hold him in place? If you can use the Force to grab a lightsaber from 100 feet away, then you can grab a Rod, right?
-This book seems to spend a good amount of time showing the shift of the Jedi attitude toward killing. It is seems very forced. The Jedi are told by the leaders of a planet that are attempting to overthrow the Nihil that if the Jedi want to help, they cannot take prisoners, the Nihil invaders must die. The Jedi grudgingly accept. This seems stupid, like the Jedi are peacekeepers and protectors, but they would understand the necessity of taking a life to protect the many. This entire series seems weird with the Jedi trying to fight battles without hurting people.
-The Nameless ending felt a bit weird. Oh, the Nameless exist in a parallel state where they are intelligent beings, who keep balance in the universe (I am trying to simplify the whole thing). I feel like there could have been a better way to wrap up their story. Although, I did like that Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann sacrificed themselves to be the representatives of Light & Dark, it was fitting. Although, I am confused since Luke eventually meets the Force ghost of Elzar (I think that is what happens in the comics), so does he eventually give himself to the Force? No clue.
-I did enjoy the ending. Like the actual ending. Marchion Ro goes to jail. They banish him inside an asteroid with only some droids. He has no contact with anyone for decades. When he mentions taking apart one of the droids to try an escape, and then worrying that he could not put it back together, it was almost sad.
-Also, Azlan Rell bleeding his kyber crystal to red, and the voice he is hearing (is it his own mind, OR is it a Sith calling to him?). I was hoping someone like Reath would be the one to fall and become a Sith apprentice, but I am okay with it being Azlan.
So if you read the book, what did you think? Was this a good ending to the High Republic? The Nihil being defeated, then just falling apart without leadership, did that make sense to you?
