Super Bowl LIX

That was an exciting Super Bowl! It was fun watching the Chiefs lose, and it was great seeing Saquon Barkley and Jahan Dotson win a championship. Although, it did make me throw up in my mouth cheering for the Eagles. 

On a positive note, I won a few bets (the pick six was a nice one, plus on the second Eagles drive, I took Hurts to score a TD–when they called Dotson down at the one-yard line, I knew I was getting paid!). I also took Hurts as an anytime TD scorer, and that was some deal at FanDuel that gave me a bunch of free bet money. Needless to say, this Super Bowl was better than the last couple for my betting.

The commercials were nothing too crazy. The Pfizer one about kid cancer may have brought a tear to my eye. The Dunkin’ Donuts and Stella commercials were funny (I enjoyed that they both had a similar joke about wanting Matt Damon/Ben Affleck). The Harrison Ford Jeep commercial was solid (I liked the ending of him mentioned that his name is F-O-R-D). But as soon as I saw the Nike & Flag Football commercials, I told Lindsey that those would be the ones to cause the most outrage. People are dumb.

Speaking of dumb people…we have to talk about the Halftime Show.

I thought the show was fine. I talk about this every year. I enjoy the whole spectacle. Giants sets, big choreographed routines, lots of hard work for what, 20 minutes? I will be totally honest, I do not really know much music by Kendrick Lamar. I know who he is, I am not an idiot. Hell, I know more about the Drake feud, and all of that stuff from the numerous things I read (plus a few of the hosts of Pod Save America are fans of Kendrick, and they talk about it sometimes, so I did research–but never listened to any of his stuff, haha). I thought he was good. The visuals were fantastic. 

Every year people freak out about the music, and every year it cracks me up. Soooo, I have a solution to the problem. We need someone who can span multiple genres, who has done songs with tons of different musicians. And I can only think of one person: POST MALONE!

I even know how the show can go…

He comes out with a guitar, and sings one of his country songs. Maybe he is joined by Blake Shelton or Morgan Wallen, then he switches gears, and we have Taylor Swift come out and they do “Fortnight” together. As the song wraps up, the beat starts hopping, and he starts rapping (pick a song), but then he switches to “Sunshine” from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The dancers are all dressed like Spidey, and then Patrick Stump comes out, and he starts playing the theme song to Spidey & His Amazing Friends, but as he quickly finishes, the big reveal is the rest of Fall Out Boy, and they do one of their classics. BOOM, you have country, Taylor, hip-hop, kids stuff, and peak Millennial nostalgia music! It would only get better if Post Malone and Mick Jagger joined Fall Out Boy at the end to sing “Satisfaction.”

I can only imagine how much pressure there is to come up with a big show for Super Bowl LX…
