Best of 2023: Favorite Book

I read a bunch of good books this year. The High Republic books were decent, phase two was good, but at times they were a bit meh. I really liked The Eye of DarknessI thought the third phase kicked off well. I loved Empires of the Steppes, but it was not the type of book you would call your favorite. I enjoyed the final two Darth Bane books, and I suppose I could cheat and pick one of them, but if I am going to cheat and pick a book that I read this year that came out in previous years…

I decided to reread The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Reading my post about the book from ten years ago, I guess I only liked it a little bit. The next book ended up really changing my opinion, and I have thought about this series so many times over the past ten years. I am happy that I came back to this one because I ended up loving it. It is frustrating that Rothfuss is pulling a GRRM and taking so damn long to finish the next one.

On a sad note, it appears that Lin-Manuel Miranda is no longer working on a television adaptation of the series. I truly believe he is one of the few people who could pull it off. Granted, they should wait until the book is finished before starting a series. Learn from GOT.
