Jammin’ With Josh: Mumford & Sons

This is Jammin’ With Josh. Each week I take a look at one of the bands that I love. Or perhaps it will be a band that I just discovered and think you should check out. Or maybe it will just be a way for me to post music videos. Honestly, no one will ever know.

I remember when I first heard “Little Lion Man” back in 2010, it came on the radio and I was intrigued by it. Then Sean wrote about the song and I finally knew the name of the band that I kept hearing on the radio.

Once I knew the band’s name, I decided to get the album. That was the last album I illegally downloaded. Neat, huh? My favorite song from the album is probably “Awake My Soul.”

I also love “The Cave.”

Another really cool song from that album is “Thistle & Weeds.”

Then in 2012, Mumford & Sons released Babel. I actually bought that album. That was the last album I purchased (I think, I bought a Black Keys album around the same time). Babel is one of my favorite albums of all time. I love every single track. I love listening to the whole thing from start to finish, I feel like it is pretty much perfect.

I realize this is the live version, but it is still such a great song. The live version is even better.

I love this song. Probably my favorite Mumford & Sons song. The video is hilarious and the song is just so damn good.

I am not going to lie, I have probably listened to this song and album in my car and completely jammed out. Sang this song at the top of my lungs.

The next album was Wilder Mind. I know a few people who do not like how they changed things up, but I honestly love it. I like that they are not stagnant, making songs that sound the same and that they are branching out to try new things.

“Believe” is absolutely beautiful. I heard that after working with Elvis Costello on The New Basement Tapes, Marcus Mumford was blown away and wanted to try new stuff (hence why they hired James Ford and The National’s Aaron Dessner–you all know how I enjoy The National).

“The Wolf” is my favorite song off the album.

I have not heard much from “Delta”, but the songs I have heard have been fantastic.

As you can tell, I love all of their songs. I could easily have posted twenty more videos. I will spare you though. I really want to see them in concert at some point. I thought about getting tickets for the Pittsburgh show, but thought it a bad idea considering the imminent birth of my son. Maybe next time.
