2019 Fantasy Baseball Week 3

Logan stopped screaming long enough for me to write about baseball. I went into Sunday losing to Ryan, but had a pretty big final day, which pushed me over the top for a fairly sizable victory. I think big days from Freeman, Blackmon, and Seager helped give me the edge in AVG & OBP.

Fantasy Player of the Week
This one was pretty easy. I did not even need to look it up. Christian Yelich was absolutely ridiculous this past week. Eight home runs, sixteen runs batted in, and nine runs scored. He hit .417 with a .533 OBP. If you were going to name a God of Baseball, his name would be Yelich. “Thank Yelich, that ball went fair!” His name just sounds like a fantasy novel deity. He was one of Adam2’s keepers and one of the reasons why he beat Matt so easily this week.

Around the League
Adam2 8 Matt 3
Lindsey 9 Offord 2
James 8 Dustin 3
Gideon 9 Sean 3
Jason 6 Pat 4

Aside from Jason & Pat, most of the matchups were fairly one-sided. Could this be a sign of teams separating themselves? Or maybe just a bad week for a few good ones?

Best Move
I hate to be biased here, but Ryan offered me a trade that made me shake my head. He apparently did not know it was my team (not sure that would have made a difference). It was Rhys Hoskins, Wade Davis, David Dahl, and Matt Shoemaker for Joey Votto, Craig Kimbrel, Joe Musgrove, and Andrew McCutchen. I have a feeling Ryan will regret this trade by the end of the year. Naturally Ryan tried to tell me that if he had been at the draft, he would have drafted all of my guys ahead of me. It is week three and Ryan is already trotting out the excuses.

The New Week
There were some big shifts in the standings. James stays in first place, but he is followed by Lindsey, me, and Adam2. We are all 3.5 games away. From there we have Gideon, Pat, Sean, Dustin, Jason, Ryan, Matt, and Offord. Speaking of Offord, I play him this week, whereas my wife faces Dustin. We also have Jason & Matt, Ryan & Adam2, Sean & Pat, and a fight between division leaders: Gideon & James.
