Decades Project: 1980s Movie–Shoot to Kill

Proof that my parents were cool with me watching R-rated movies. I was allowed to watch Die Hard when it came out. But another movie that we watched as a family was Shoot to Kill. They both came out in 1988, and it is crazy how one has become a beloved classic, and the other is probably not well remembered. I am not going to lie, I loved Shoot to Kill. I thought Tom Berenger and Sidney Poitier were so cool.

If you love a classic buddy cop film, then I highly recommend checking this one out. I also love how you do not know who the villain is during the first part of the movie, so it builds some tension during the early hiking scenes as the audience tries to figure out who it is.

  • I’m watching this movie today in the background while I work. 25 minutes in right now. Thanks for the recommendation. 🙂

  • I don’t know who the villain is, but I saw Clancy Brown’s name in the opening credits…

    • Hope you enjoyed it…and yeah, nowadays seeing Clancy is a giveaway, but when I saw it back then, I had no clue, haha

      • I did enjoy it. It’s funny though – I made the call literally before Clancy Brown had appeared on screen.
The background music was hilarious. So many air drums. I literally laughed out loud at the music more than once.
