Star Wars: The High Republic–Into the Dark

I decided to keep going with The High Republic books and Into the Dark was the next one on the list. This one is a young adult story, which is not that big of a deal since Star Wars books do not have much adult-oriented situations. It was a good book. It had a few cool things and it did touch upon some ideas about the Force I think about way too much.

I enjoyed learning more about the pre-Galactic Republic with information about the Amaxines. It was also interesting having the Drengir as a villain. They were a bit scary. And I loved that it was the Sith who imprisoned the plant monsters on the station. Like they met a species who are basically full of hate and rage, and went “whoa, they are way too extreme for us.” I love it.

The book also touched on some of those weird questions about the Force and whether or not the Jedi are doing the right thing by cutting themselves from emotion and attachment. It will be interesting to see if this is explored more.

If this is a series, then I hope we see more of the other characters (like I want a cartoon about the Adventures of Leox and Geode. They could be the opposite of Han & Chewbacca. A hippy and a rock, just making legal deliveries across the galaxy while getting into adventures.
