Best of 2022: Favorite Payton Moment

2022 was a big year for Payton. This was her final year of daycare and preschool. This was the final year of t-ball. But as those things came to an end, new things take their place. Payton learned how to swim (for the most part), she got hits without the tee, she started wearing glasses, and she started kindergarten. All of these things were celebrated and major accomplishments.

My favorite moment though was at the parent-teacher conference. As a parent, you wonder what your kid is like at school. Payton is a social kid, so I was not too worried about her making friends (especially since so many of her friends from daycare/preschool are in her class). The teacher had great things to say about her. She said that Payton is always willing to help out, she is smart, funny, and sweet. She said that Payton likes to talk, which we all know. However, she said that Payton will come up to her desk to tell her something about whatever they are working on.

I came out of the conference feeling proud. I have been proud all school year of the little girl she has become. She is not perfect. There is plenty of yelling about getting ready in the morning. There are fights about going to bed. But she likes coming home, and getting her homework done. We have a routine, and even though she may fight us on it at times, it seems like she has grown accustomed to it.
