Josh’s College Football Rankings 2025–Week 11

There were some crazy endings to games this weekend. None topped the catch by Indiana to beat Penn State. Granted, it was a heartbreaking moment for me, but I still had to respect that catch. The Iowa/Oregon game had a bunch of great moments. It was a good week for college football.

  1. Ohio State (9-0)–#1–W 34-10 Purdue. Not much to say at this point. The Buckeyes just keep rolling over their competition.
  2. Texas A&M (9-0)–#2–W 38-17 #16 Missouri. Same with the Aggies.
  3. Indiana (10-0)–#3–W 27-24 Penn State. I know that PSU is having a down year, but I gave the Hoosiers a High Quality Win (I will list these in a week or two) since it was a conference road win, and Indiana has never won at Beaver Stadium.
  4. Alabama (8-1)–#4–W 20-9 #33 LSU. Alabama is rolling along. They keep getting better each week.
  5. Georgia (8-1)–#5–W 41-21 Mississippi State
  6. Oregon (8-1)–#6–W 18-16 #23 Iowa. The Ducks pulled off a big win at Iowa. Great teams find ways to win those games.
  7. Ole Miss (9-1)–#7–W 49-0 The Citadel
  8. Texas Tech (9-1)–#9–W 29-7 #8 BYU. The Red Raiders are for real, and it is tempting to jump them up a few spots with that win.
  9. Texas (7-2)–#10–BYE
  10. Notre Dame (7-2)–#13–W 49-10 #38 Navy. The Irish are going to get into the playoffs after starting 0-2 and make people mad yet again.
  11. Oklahoma (7-2)–#14–BYE
  12. BYU (8-1)–#8–L 29-7 #9 Texas Tech. I will give the Cougars the benefit of the doubt with that first loss.
  13. Vanderbilt (8-2)–#15–W 45-38 OT Auburn
  14. Georgia Tech (8-1)–#16–BYE
  15. Utah (7-2)–#18–BYE
  16. Michigan (7-2)–#19–BYE
  17. Virginia (8-2)–#11–L 16-9 Wake Forest. Disappointing loss for the Cavaliers.
  18. Louisville (7-2)–#12–L 29-26 OT California. This loss feels like the most Louisville thing ever.
  19. Miami (7-2)–#20–W 38-10 Syracuse. Hurricane fans feel very disrespected since they are so low, and Notre Dame has climbed back to the Top Ten.
  20. Pittsburgh (7-2)–#21–BYE
  21. USC (7-2)–#24–W 38-17 #40 Northwestern. The Trojans had a nice win, and they are looking pretty solid.
  22. James Madison (8-1)–#25–W 35-23 Marshall
  23. Iowa (6-3)–#23–L 18-16 #6 Oregon. I am not going to punish the Hawkeyes for this loss, we were close to a major upset.
  24. Cincinnati (7-2)–#26–BYE
  25. Tennessee (6-3)–#28–BYE
  26. Missouri (6-3)–#17–L 38-17 #2 Texas A&M. It was a promising season for Mizzou, but the injury to Pribula is too much. Hopefully he can come back and give them a few more wins.
  27. South Florida (7-2)–#30–W 55-23 UTSA. Am I the only one who really wants to see JMU vs. South Florida?
  28. Washington (6-3)–#22–L 13-10 Wisconsin.Every time I start giving the Huskies some respect, they do something like this. Losing to the Badgers…yikes.
  29. North Texas (8-1)–#31–BYE
  30. Tulane (7-2)–#37–W 38-32 #29 Memphis
  31. Illinois (6-3)–#34–BYE
  32. Houston (8-2)–#35–W 30-27 UCF
  33. Arizona State (6-3)–#36–BYE
  34. TCU (6-3)–#27–L 20-17 Iowa State
  35. Nebraska (7-3)–#39–W 28-21 UCLA
  36. Memphis (8-2)–#29–L 38-32 #37 Tulane
  37. Minnesota (6-3)–HM–BYE
  38. SMU (7-3)–HM–W 45-13 Boston College
  39. Kennesaw State (7-2)–HM–W 24-21 New Mexico State. Is Jerry Mack up for coach of the year? If he does not receive any votes, that is kind of sad.
  40. Southern Miss (7-2)–HM–W 27-21 Arkansas State

Honorable Mentions
Arizona (6-3)–NR–W 24-20 Kansas
Wake Forest (6-3)–NR–W 16-9 #11 Virginia
Hawaii (7-3)–NR–W 38-6 #32 San Diego State
San Diego State (7-2)–#32–L 38-6 Hawaii
Iowa State (6-4)–NR–W 20-17 #27 TCU

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

There are four games that I want to focus on this week.
#10 Notre Dame at #20 Pitt –The Panthers have a chance to move way up with a big win over the Irish.
#23 Iowa at #21 USC –The Trojans will have to play tough to get past that Iowa defense. If USC wants to jump up in the polls, they need to put up some points and win convincingly.
#9 Texas at #5 Georgia –The Longhorns could get back into the national championship conversation with a win over the Bulldogs.
#11 Oklahoma at #4 Alabama –The Sooners defense may be the only team that can stop Alabama right now, but something tells me the Crimson Tide will be too much for them.

Tiny But Mighty
Sam Houston picked up their first win of the season! They beat Oregon State 21-17. That means only UMass is winless. Can they win one with three games left? They have Northern Illinois, Ohio, and then Bowling Green. The Falcons may be their best bet as they have lost four straight.

Coaching Carousel
You know, I have give Luke Fickell a ton of crap this year. I think I had him on the watch list in week two. But, he got a nice win this weekend, and his AD swears he is not going to fire him. So it looks like he is safe for another season. Honestly, it may be a smart move to keep him for another year. All of the jobs open out there, it may be difficult to land the right person. Might as well wait and fire him in week three of 2026.

Heisman Watch
1. Fernando Mendoza (QB)–Indiana
2. Julian Sayin (QB)–Ohio State
3. Ty Simpson (QB)–Alabama
4. Marcel Reed (QB)–Texas A&M
5. Jeremiah Smith (WR)–Ohio State

Nothing changes from last week, I think Mendoza really gave himself the lead with that final drive. That was a Heisman-worthy performance.
