Jammin’ With Josh: Metallica

I have not done one of these in awhile. After watching season four of Stranger Things, I knew I should write about Metallica. During my teenage years, I became a big Metallica fan. I bought the Mexico City box set and watched it like fifty times. I defended their style change with Load and Reload.

Then came the Napster battle. Their message about stealing music was correct, but the way they went about it was horrible. If I remember correctly, they were threatening to sue anyone who downloaded their music. It just made me dislike them. Hearing them in interviews talking about how fans were stealing from them…yeah it just sucked.

Over the years, my anger at them subsided and I could not help get excited hearing some of those classics. At Payton’s dance recital, one of the adult groups did “Enter Sandman” and it was freakin’ awesome. Then comes Eddie performing “Master of Puppets” in the season finale…yeah, you know what? I am a Metallica fan and I am not ashamed to say it.

I loved how the sky and imagry of Eddie playing guitar to distract the bats actually matches the color from the album cover. How cool is that?

I always thought “Wherever I May Roam” was an underrated song from the Black album.

“One” is probably their best song. I suppose we can debate this, but is there a point?

Totally underrated song.

I just dig this song “there’s a black cloud overhead, that’s me!”

Oh come on! How could I write about Metallica and not include one of the best songs ever to get you pumped up for anything.
