Halloween Party 2025

This was our 4th year of having a Halloween party. We had it last Friday, and I think it may have been the biggest one to date. Funny story about the first one. Payton kept telling her friends at school that we were having a party, enough that those kids went home and told their parents, and they eventually started texting Lindsey. Eventually, Lindsey was like “okay, sure, we can have a party.”
Since then, Lindsey has really embraced the party. She has spent a ton of money on decorations, and she goes hard decorating the house, adding more stuff each year. The guest list this year hit around 50 people, which can be a little chaotic inside our house. Fortunately, the weather was not too crappy, so kids could go outside for a bit, plus some of us stood outside near the cooler for quick access to beer.
It was a great time, got to talk to plenty of Payton and Logan’s friends’ parents, and get to know them a bit better. The best part about the party is the cleanup. It takes all week getting the house ready, then the place is perfect for about twenty minutes before the party starts. Then it takes like two days cleaning it all up.
This year we did not have a summer party because of the work on Payton’s room not being done. But next summer we will probably bring that one back. The summer party is more my thing. I like making food for it, playing some outdoor games, and just the general vibe. I enjoy the Halloween party, but it is definitely more a Lindsey thing.
Also, I should probably explain the costumes. Payton is Hermione from Harry Potter (I guess she is into this now…her cousin is obsessed with HP, so natually Payton has to be as well, even though I think she has only watched like half of the movies…and read like one chapter of the first book). Logan is a ninja (I am pretty sure he likes to be anything that allows him to carry a sword). Lindsey used her 80s outfit from our trip to Savannah. And I dressed as a cowboy. I needed to buy some Western attire for our trip to Arizona in a few weeks, so I figured I might as well get some use out of the stuff. I actually bought a few shirts, so the ones I wear in Arizona are different, but the hat and boots are the same.
I should also mention this was our first party with Piper. She did much better than I expected. We moved her crate to our room, and she was in it for a good portion of the party, but then we let her out and she was timid, but not terrified. Definitely some progress. Samson…well he was himself. He ate too much, barked a bunch, and just acted like a nut.
