2022 Preview

Everyone likes to say how bad the previous year was (2015 sucked, 2016 was awful, 2017 the worst…and so on). I actually had a good 2021 and I am fairly excited about some stuff for 2022. I know, some people will read this and be like “oh my god Josh, we are in a pandemic still and X amount of people have died!” Yeah, I get all that, but I am not going to sit here and pretend like it was the worst year ever. So now that I have that out of my system, let us get to the stuff I am looking forward to in 2022!

Family
We start the year off with Payton’s birthday and a few days later we have her party. Logan turns three in March. Then we have the arrival of a new nephew in March. And we follow that up with my brother and Rachel having their little girl in May. An exciting time for sure! The kids will probably play soccer and we are still debating if Payton will play tee ball. There is also her next dance recital. I would still like to get her to the driving range sometime and maybe take her with me golfing.

I have no clue what is in the hopper for vacations this year. I am guessing we are going to Myrtle Beach at some point. No clue where else we will go. I would like to go somewhere different. Maybe to a different beach or maybe somewhere cool for kids. I am super excited for the Dispatch/OAR concert in Pittsburgh this summer with my brother (as long as it does not get canceled again, haha).

There are a few movies I would like to go see with the kids. Turning Red (3/11), DC League of Super-Pets (5/20), and maybe Strange World (11/23). I hope we can take Logan to see Lightyear when it comes out in June. The first movie is a big deal and I think that would be the perfect one for him.

Entertainment
I was going to list all the movies, TV shows, and books that I am excited for this year, but that would be too long. Instead, I will just mention a few. There are three movies I am most excited for: The Batman (3/4), Thor: Love and Thunder (7/8), and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) (10/7). Obviously there are bunch of other ones, but those are the three I am most pumped for this year. TV shows…there are tons of shows this year that I cannot wait to watch, but here are the big three: Obi-Wan KenobiThe Lord of the Rings, and Barry. I am not even going to mention books. There are two authors who are yet again supposed to have a book coming out, but I am not going to get my hopes up. I do look forward to reading more Star Wars: High Republic books.

Food
I want to experiment with cooking more foods on the Pit Boss this year. I would like to do another brisket. A few weeks ago I smoked a corned beef, which was very good (even though I am not the biggest corned beef/pastrami fan). I also would not mind getting a Blackstone. I also wouldn’t mind an outdoor deep fryer for french fries. I basically just want to build a kitchen out on the patio hahaha.

House Projects
Finishing up the basement is priority one. I still need to paint the trim and put it back on and paint the doors (they have some water damage on the bottom and I think they would look better with a fresh coat of paint). I will need to install the nose caps on the steps when they finally arrive and I will need to put some quarter round on the edge of the stairs. Then we will need someone to come do the carpet. I have not decided whether or not I am going to use the last bit of flooring for the office or if we will just do carpet in there as well.

So what are you looking forward to in 2022?
