The Weekend

I have not written a post like this in awhile. You know, one of those posts where I tell you about my weekend. Unfortunately, there is no power at our house right now and I have both of our phones plugged into the car to charge them. So I am chilling outside, writing a post. I might as well give a recap of the weekend.

Friday (come on, the weekend begins the moment you leave work on Friday)…
Payton had a t-ball game. The game went well, I would probably say it was our best game. All of the girls hit the ball decently well (two of them had us pitch to them and they got hits). After the game, Payton wanted to go to the restaurant where she can watch the chefs make the pizza (Pappy’s in Richland). We had a pizza there, then dropped Lindsey’s car off at a garage and went home.

Saturday morning we got up and made breakfast. The plan was to head to my brother’s house to do some swimming. Naturally Lindsey wanted to stop at a few places in Altoona. But it all hinged on whether or not her car would be ready. I mean, yeah we could take my car, but stopping at stores would be out of the question. Do you know how much stuff she packs for a day-trip to Philipsburg??? Fortunately, they called and the car was ready early enough to achieve her goals.

We made it to Adam and Rachel’s house around 1:00, and I swear Payton was in the pool by 1:05. I got in after a bit and did some solid pool time. For a good bit, Adam and I tossed a frisbee (I was in the pool, he was out, then later we were both out). Can I just put this out there? I love playing catch. Ask James, he and I used to play catch at the HUB (I think Offord would join us on occasion too). I could seriously play catch for hours. Not just a baseball, a frisbee works just as well. Something about the repetition and the rhythm. It just makes me happy. Anyways, it was a fantastic day of swimming, talking, eating, drinking, laughing at kids, being scared for Logan (he fell in the pool, he fell down the steps, he fell on the sidewalk…yeah, he had a good day).

Sunday was a work day. Lindsey decided I had too much fun the day before and she put me to work. Okay, a bit of an exaggeration. Monday is our junk day, so I needed to get a bunch of stuff out front. Lindsey did some of the outdoor work she wanted to get done. I put together the new sandbox we got. The one my brother and I made was nice, but the lid did not keep out bugs or rain. This one does and it is bigger…which meant I had to go buy sixteen fifty pound bags of sand. AWESOME! I love loading and unloading sand. So much fun.
Once that was all done, I started making dinner (pork loin, sweet potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, and carrots). It was delicious. We cleaned up and then it was craft time! My mom got Logan and Payton these Mickey & Minnie birdhouse kits.

Nothing can ever be easy. The post for the Minnie house was too big for the base. So I had to go and cut the hole to make it bigger. Then, the Mickey hole was too big (and no, the two posts could not be swapped, the posts are the same, the holes are just cut poorly). I made it work though and once the glue dries we will let the kids paint them.
We gave the kids a bath. I wish I could say that bath time is easy, but it never is. There is always screaming and yelling. Way more water ends up on the floor than should be possible. Ugh. Bath time is the worst. Once they were done, we put Logan to bed. That is when the power went out.

Not really sure what happened, but the neighbors (and a few other people on Facebook) have all said that the power company is hoping to have it back up by 11:00 a.m. At first I figured it would be a little bit, but when I heard that, I decided to charge our phones. Lindsey has to be up at 5:30 for work. My alarm clock is an Echo Dot. We use our phones. So here I am. Writing a blog post in Microsoft Word, that I will copy & paste into WordPress, while our phones charge in the car.

Other than that, it was a great weekend!
*UPDATE* The power came back on around 8:15 a.m. Unfortunately, the internet does not work. I contacted Atlantic Broadband and they are aware of the outage. Whatever the hell that means. And then at 10:15 a.m. the power went back out. I went to work and when Lindsey came home, it was back on, so that is why this post is going up at 7:43.
