I feel like we need to start this project off with a movie that had a huge impact on me as a child. Yes, I am talking about the Disney classic Bambi. Crazy that this movie was released in 1942. Obviously that is not when I saw it, I think it was released on VHS in 1989ish.
Most people watch the movie and come away with a disgust for hunting. But when I was a kid, my dad explained why hunting was a positive, and that the hunters in the movie were not good. He said that we help keep the deer population down since we had rid the land of many of their natural predators. Also, we were not just killing a deer or other animals for the fun of it, we ate the meat they provided.
Interesting when you think about it, The Lion King, came out a few years later, and we learn about the Circle of Life, which was basically my dad’s lesson.
