Salvation

I recently finished the newest Peter F. Hamilton book, Salvation. It is part of a new series called “Salvation Sequence.” I keep reading Hamilton books hoping that one of them will be as good as The Reality Dysfunction. While this book was good, it definitely does not live up to the that book.

This book follows two narratives. First we have a group exploring a crashed alien ship on distant world. The group gives details on their past and the weird things they have encountered throughout their careers.

The other part of the story is set much further into the future and we follow a group of kids who have been genetically engineered to fight a war against an alien species. It is pretty cool because some of the stuff they mention or believe stems from the first group who looked into the alien ship.

There will be some spoilers from here on out…

One of the things the future kids talk about is the Saints and throughout the story, the Saints are revealed to be the members of that investigation. We also know that the reason for the investigation is that one of the humans is actually an alien.

Hamilton tries to keep it secret who the alien species is that decimated Earth and caused humans to go on the run. However, it was fairly obvious pretty earl on that it was the Olyix. I will not lie though, the ending had me intrigued and ready for the next book. I look forward to seeing how this all plays out.

I also want to know if Dellian and his team defeat the Olyix and they get to live out there lives somewhere. I think they obviously will, but it will be cool to see how they achieve it.
