Random Rambling
It has been awhile since I just rambled about things. So maybe tonight will be a good opportunity. First up we have Joel Klatt and his Twitter rant about why Big Noon Kickoff is great. He makes a bunch of valid points about the ratings being up (and honestly, I understand that Fox made a huge investment for the rights to Big Ten games, and they need marquee matchups at different times, particularly noon). But, Penn State and Ohio State fans have legitimate complaints. Fans want the big matchup to be at night. For PSU fans, they want the White Out to be the biggest game.
I feel like there needs to be a compromise. If a matchup is the BNK game one year (Penn State vs Ohio State), then it cannot be used the next year. Fox needs to do a better job of alternating teams around. There needs to be good games at noon. I hate when there are a bunch of shitty games at noon, and all the night games are awesome. I like watching college football all day long. Granted, the people who tailgate and party, they want big games at night. Fox, you need to give them something as well. There are other matchups the BNK can nurture. Some of the Big Ten rivalry games. Minnesota/Wisconsin, Penn State/Michigan State, Iowa/Nebraska, Indiana/Purdue, Northwestern/Illinois and the list continues on and on. Make a big deal about them, give casual fans a reason to be interested.

Now, as far as the White Out game goes…Penn State fans need to understand that there will be games the scheduling folks think will be bigger. Washington was the CFP runner-up last year, and this was their first time playing at Beaver Stadium. It was cool seeing a bunch of Washington fans wearing white, and being in awe of their surroundings. Oh, and it was fun giving them a beat down.
Speaking of football, there are some annoying people every Tuesday when the new CFP rankings come out. Rankings are difficult, and I do not envy the committee’s job. Okay, that is not true, I think they should have me on the committee, but whatever. There is this debate about ranked teams. Should you count a win over a ranked team, if the team is no longer ranked? Personally, I think you should. When Penn State beat Illinois, they were ranked 19th. They got to that ranking by beating a ranked Nebraska. Now, losing that game caused the Cornhuskers to drop from the rankings. So does that mean it was no longer a win over ranked team? That makes no sense to me.
The problem to me is that we do not rank enough teams. Way back in the olden days, they ranked the top ten teams. Then they went to 25. Now there are 134 FBS teams. I think you should rank the Top 40. Next year I will probably rank the top forty, and I will count wins over 25-40 as quality wins, 15-20 as Q2 wins, 6-14 Q3 wins, and 1-5 as High Quality Wins. I might try to weight them and create a point system. Kind of like how they do in college basketball (I think their systems are much more scientific than mine), but they rank teams from top to bottom and wins against certain tiers have value. It is idiotic to reward a team for beating #25, but not the team that is an honorable mention and missed being ranked by a vote. Also, I like how the CFP starts ranking when they do, instead of preseason or week one. At least by then we have a better understand of which teams are good.
Switching gears, some people really piss me off. I hate people who act like snobs about food or drink. “Oh you ruin a good steak with A1???” Who gives a shit, it is their steak, let them dump whatever disgusting ketchup based sauce they want to slather on their meat. People love to rag on someone about what they put in their coffee. Flavored creamer, sugar, whatever. It does not make you some kind of hero to drink just black coffee. Beer, wine, whiskey, whatever. However you want to indulge yourself, knock yourself out. Fuck what people think.

Kids are weird. They sleep in the weirdest ways. The other day Payton was sleeping with her little sleep-mask on, and just laying perfectly straight, on her back. Who sleeps like that??? Also, we are beginning the process of redoing Payton’s room. Lindsey has a whole list of things she wants me to do, which will be a huge project. So as we start clearing things out, we moved Payton to Logan’s room. Those two sleeping together has been kind of funny. Logan is all over the place when he sleeps, and Payton barely moves. This is a recipe for disaster.
Logan was sick the other day, he came in our room and was crying that his stomach hurt. He ended up puking in our bed. We cleaned it up, and then he went back to his room to sleep. He decided to sleep on his stuffed animals. It was very cute, and sad since I think we all know that feeling. Your stomach hurts, and you just want to lie down somewhere and feel better. The floor always seems like a great place, not sure why.
I am watching two new shows this year: High Potential and Doctor Odyssey. I have enjoyed both shows, but for different reasons. I think High Potential has been way better than I would have imagined. Standard police procedural, but the characters have been interesting and Kaitlin Olson has been excellent (I hope we get some Always Sunny cameos). Doctor Odyssey is entertaining. I would not say that it is a good show, but it makes me laugh, and has some fun medical drama stuff. But, it did have a weird moment recently. The episode was about a wedding no the cruise ship, the groom ends up committing suicide. Obviously, not funny. The final moments of the show end up having different characters do a little grief counseling, then the main trio (Josh Jackson, GirlNurse, and BoyNurse) start drinking and discussing their bucket lists. They all mention a threesome, and after a few jokes, GirlNurse says she is down with it. They all start kissing and the episode ends. And what do you think happens next? Well, what happens after any episode deals with suicide? A message comes on the screen about suicide hotlines, and if you need help, you should call or whatever. It was soooooo weird.
I think I am done rambling for tonight.
