Decades Project: 1960s Movie–2001: A Space Odyssey

I first watched this movie when I was a kid. A relative knew I was big into sci-fi and decided we should watch it when I stayed at their house. It went over my head. Then in high school, I had a Kubrick phase, and decided to rent it one night.
Since then, I have watched it a few more times, and each time I am blown away by…well everything. The chilling way HAL responds “I’m sorry Dave, I am afraid I cannot do that.” Or just the amazing shots of space. This movie was made in 1968, and it gets many things about space flight correct (hence the reason people think Kubrick helped fake the Moon landing the following year).
Enjoy one of the greatest movies ever made (I think AFI has it ranked #15, while the Vatican ranked it as one of the top 45 movies ever made). High praise coming from a bunch of priests!
