Life Update

It has been awhile since I wrote anything of substance. The last few weeks have been a bit hectic. We were on vacation the past week, and we did not go anywhere, but we had tons going on every day. So I thought I would give a quick update.

Saturday (6/14)
Logan had a baseball game in the morning. Do not fear folks, there will be an update coming about the kids baseball and softball seasons. After his game we came home, and it was time to get ready for Payton’s dance recital. She did two performances this year (she tried hip-hop and ballet). She did a great job, and I am super proud of how much she improves each year. After the recital, we went to Applebees, which has become our yearly tradition of taking over the place.

Sunday (6/15)
Father’s Day! The kids actually got me something this year (it was a sweet BSBL SZN short sleeve hoodie). We went for brunch at a place downtown. It was delicious. We then went to the Johnstown Millrats game. I was able to get a sweet new hat (Johnstown Steal for those that remember them back in the 90s).ย

Monday (6/16)
I think the rain held off on Monday, so I was able to cut the grass. Also the carpet guys came to fix the carpeting in Payton’s room. I spent a good chunk of the day working in Payton’s room setting up the closet (again, more on that later). That night we had a softball playoff game.

Tuesday (6/17)
Another day of rain. We spent a majority of the day cleaning the house, well it was mostly Lindsey. I took Payton to a softball tryout (again, more on all this in a separate post). I worked on Payton’s closet (I got the whole system built and did the trim in the closet). Later that day her furniture was delivered, but since the room was not done, I told the delivery guys they did not have to set up the bed. They were pleased. Glad I could make someone’s day better. Logan’s playoff game ended up being canceled because of the rain. Ugh.

Wednesday (6/18)
The guys came to install the windows in Payton’s room! Lindsey finished cleaning. It ended up not raining for a little bit, so I went to the field to get it ready for Logan’s playoff game. I accidentally butt-dialed the police. Yeah that was embarrassing. At least the cops did not show up, but the officer did call me back and kept asking if everything was okay. Or if I was unable to speak openly. I had to keep assuring him that I am just an idiot that kept bumping my phone while the screen was not locked. I had headphones on, and the music was playing. I have no clue how It happened (I have cheap headphones that Payton bought for school that actually plug into the charging port, I like them for certain things instead of my nice wireless headphones). Anyways, sometimes when they are plugged in, the phone does not automatically time out to the lock screen. So I think it must have been on, and I must have bumped the 911 button. Who knows. Anyways, I was hero to both teams for making sure the field was great for the game. They all celebrated my hard work (not really, but a few folks did say thank you).

Thursday (6/19)
I did not do too much around the house on Thursday. We took Piper to the vet. We learned that even though she has gained almost ten pounds, she is still about ten pounds underweight. Also, she tested positive for Lyme’s Disease. So they gave her a pretty major antibiotic. Also, the veterinarian thinks her fears & anxiety may be a bit extreme,so he put her on medication. Hopefully this will help her relax a little bit around us at home. Payton had softball practice that evening (it was for the 8U All-Stars). And after that, she and I went up to the field to watch the championship game for our softball league. It was a fun dad/daughter moment.

Friday (6/20)
It was finally nice out. Lindsey set up the inflatable slide, and the kids played in that for awhile. I decided to work on the accent wall in Payton’s room. It was difficult. Later in the day, we had another practice for softball. We came home from that, I cleaned her softball stuff, and we got to bed early.

Saturday (6/21)
Payton’s first All-Star tournament! We had to be out in Conemaugh Valley early. We played three games during the day. Once we were home, Payton and Logan each went to friends houses, so we had a bit of free time. We decided to try out Tap814. We had a few drinks and some delicious food. It was nice being an adult for a few hours.

Sunday (6/22)
We finished the tournament. Then we came home. The heat was brutal the last two days, and it was hard to muster up the energy to do much work. Lindsey took the kids over to Kayla’s, then I went later with some pizza for dinner.

It was an exhausting week. I am almost ready to go back to work tomorrow.
