Two Video Recommendations

In the past I have given people television, book, movie, and even podcast recommendations. Today I thought I would offer up some YouTube video channels that I enjoy.

First up we have Kyle Hill’s new channel. I found his Because Science videos on Nerdist a few years ago. Mainly I would watch a bunch and then forget about them for awhile. I realized awhile back that I could just subscribe to it and get a notification once a week. I have no clue why he left Nerdist and went out on his own. His first two videos are what you would expect from him. If you enjoy science, I highly recommend checking out his new channel.

Next up we have my favorite golf channel: Rick Shiels Golf. At some point last year, I looked up videos about hitting your long irons better. I watched a few videos and after that Facebook started showing me tons of golf videos. I would watch some of them, which then meant I would get more golf videos (an endless cycle). Usually they were highlights of pros or at least some funny videos of professionals muffing it.

And then I found Rick Shiels Golf. He has a variety of different videos. First there are the instructional videos, where he gives a quick lesson and tries to keep it as simple as possible. The nice thing about his lessons are that they are free and he just gives you the advice right away. Many videos you find will give you some tips, but then say if you want more then you need to buy some videos or books.

He also does videos where he gives himself a challenge, like playing with just his seven iron or maybe he plays a round with 30 clubs. Some of my favorite videos are when he tests clubs, but not always the newest, best stuff. For example, in the video below he tests out a set of Callaway clubs that he gets from some store for super cheap (I think they are only available at this store). I expected him to tear them apart and really push buying more expensive clubs and yet he was pretty high on this set. Same with when he tried out a set of the cheapest clubs (like $70 for the whole set). He gives honest feedback like the clubs are fine for someone starting out who just wants to have fun.

So these are two video channels I highly suggest you check out.
